Maika Monroe Teases ‘It Follows’ Sequel: 'It’s Very Different From the Original'
Maika Monroe has provided an update on the highly-anticipated It Follows sequel currently in development!
The 32-year-old scream queen spoke about They Follow during the premiere of her new Hulu film, a remake of The Hand that Rocks the Cradle co-starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She told DiscussingFilm that the sequel’s script is “incredible.”

Maika noted that the story is “very different from the original.”
While It Follows was more “heightened and dramatic,” the Watcher star says this follow-up feels “really quite grounded and sort of follows the story of these two women that are just mentally dealing with a lot.”

They Follow was announced two years ago, with writer and director David Robert Mitchell set to return and Maika reprising her role as Jay Height.
The new film is being produced by Neon and Good Fear Content, and although production was originally expected in 2024, Maika is now saying that “next year is the rumor.”
