Russell Wilson Slams His Former Coach Sean Payton as 'Classless' Following Preceived Shade
Russell Wilson is hitting back at his former coach Sean Payton.
If you didn’t know, Sean, is the head coach of the Denver Broncos and previously coach Russell, 36, during the 2022 to 2023 season. Russell is the now the quarterback for the New York Giants.
When the Broncos played the Giants on Sunday, October 19, Russell was benched and rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart played instead.
After the Broncos defeated the Giants 33-32, Sean praised Jaxson, 22, and took a subtle dig at Russell.
Keep reading to find out more…“They found a little spark with that quarterback,” Sean said, referring to Jaxson, who has replaced Russell as the starter after the Giants began the season 0-3.
I was talking to [Giants owner] John Mara not too long ago, and I said we were hoping that that change would have happened long after our game,” Sean added.
After catching wind of Sean‘s comment, Russell took to X to hit back.
“Classless… but not surprised…,” Russell tweeted. “Didn’t realize you’re still bounty hunting 15+ years later through the media. 😎😂 #LetsRide 🤣”
The “bounty hunter” dig was in reference to Sean‘s New Orleans Saints team from 2009 to 2011 in which a cash-for-hits bounty program was run by the team’s former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.
As a result, Sean was suspended for the entire 2012 season without pay.
