Trump White House Reps Explain Why They Chose Taylor Swift Song for Their TikTok, Despite Her Endorsing Kamala Harris
The official White House account used a Taylor Swift song in one of their TikTok videos, and they’ve now responded to requests for comment with quite a statement.
“The Fate of Ophelia” was used to caption photos of Trump and the First Lady, JD Vance and his wife Usha, and they even included Trump‘s mug shot.
Variety asked for a comment about their usage of Taylor‘s song, and the White House released an statement in response calling out news outlets amplifying the video.

“We made this video because we knew fake news media brands like Variety would breathlessly amplify them. Congrats, you got played,” they said about the TikTok.
The White House’s usage of the Taylor song is somewhat surprising, given she endorsed Kamala Harris and, after doing so, Trump explicitly declared “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.” However, months later, he congratulated Taylor on her engagement.
