Curt Menefee Will Stick to Fox Sports, Exits Role at ‘Good Day New York’

Curt Menefee is sticking to sports.

The Fox Sports veteran, who took up local-news duties in early 2024 at Fox-owned WNYW in New York, is leaving the post to focus more intently on his sportscasting role.

“January will be two years since I’ve been doing ‘Good Day New York‘, but I’m not coming back in 2026,” Menefee said during Tuesday’s telecast of the program, which he has co-anchored alongside veteran Rosanna Scotto. He added: “It’s one of those things that has been a great time — you have been welcoming, the staff has been wonderful — but the back and forth has been a lot.” He noted that he has had significantly less time to see his wife.

His last day as anchor at “Good Day New York” will be Friday, December 19.

Menefee will continue hosting “Fox NFL Sunday.” He has been with Fox Sports since 1997, when he joined as a sideline reporter. He has served as a play-by-play announcer for the network’s NFL, USFL and NFL Europe League coverage, in addition to hosting studio shows. He has co-hosted “Fox NFL Sunday” since 2007.

His move to WNYW seemed to be part of a larger trend that had some of the nation’s entertainment conglomerates working to prop up their news programs with sports-TV personnel. ABC News won new notice for its long-running “Good Morning America” by adding Michael Strahan to the anchor roster in 2016. CBS News has made Nate Burleson a central part of its “CBS Mornings” and CNN for a period of time tried to win new viewers to primetime with a weekly program led by Gayle King and Charles Barkley.
