As Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s plot begins to heat up, you’ll discover that the groom of the lovely wedding you attended is actually in league with the bandits that are causing trouble across the region. As he’s living in the village of Semine, it’s your job to ride there with Von Begow’s men, bring him to justice, and get more information about where they’re hiding away.
When you get there though, things get extremely heated and it becomes clear that the only way the situation can be resolved is by one side or the other getting wiped out, you just need to pick a side. You have the choice of siding with Von Begow’s men and slaughtering everyone in the Semine fort to find your target, or you can defend the village and repel the soldiers you arrived with.
We’ll explain what happens in each scenario and break down what we think is the better choice.
If You Side With Von Bergow’s Men

If you choose to go through with the attack then no one inside Semine’s fort is spared. You will fight and kill all of the soldiers and then you will be ordered to search the tower to find your target while the rest of Von Bergow’s men wreck the place and kill everyone inside, from the stable boys to the handmaidens.
Unlike the other option, this route gives you the chance to explore the fort one last time, and if you get the keys off of the soldiers’ bodies, then you can ransack the entire place, taking all the great loot inside for yourself without consequence.
After you’ve found your man, you can hear him out and choose to condemn him or set him free, though regardless of your choice the captain will intervene and kill him after he reveals the location of the bandit’s HQ. Once that’s done, the soldiers burn the fort to the ground and you return to Von Bergow.
If You Side With the Semine Villagers

If Hashek’s overly aggressive attitude has you worried and you decide to defend the village of Semine then you’ll have to contend with all the soldiers you rode here with. This may be the more morally upstanding way to handle things, but it creates a problem, as you can’t let Von Bergow know you’ve betrayed him.
To cover your tracks, it’s decided to evacuate everyone from the fort and set fire to it to destroy the evidence of what happened. This unfortunately means that the fort ends up destroyed either way, but at least this way all of its inhabitants will survive. Plus, you’ll still get the location of the bandits that you need.
Who Should You Side With?

As for which side is the better choice, it depends on what you’d rather prioritize. Defending the villagers is definitely better from a moral standpoint, and if you want Henry to be a man of honor then it’s the path you should pick.
However, if you’re thinking more selfishly, then you have a lot more to gain from siding with Von Bergow’s men, as you get the chance to loot the entire fort, which you don’t in the other scenario. You can pick up some decent gear from the chests in this place, as well as a handful of valuable items which will earn you a decent chunk of change when you find a place to sell them.
So it’s up to you what you prefer. Are you in this for personal gain or to do what’s right?
