President Donald Trump announced this week that he will be hosting the annual Kennedy Center Honors special and he also says he was part of the committee that selected the honorees.
Each year, the iconic institution celebrates with their annual national celebration of the arts, with several high profile individuals chosen to be honored.
Country singer George Strait, original Phantom of the Opera actor Michael Crawford, “I Will Survive” singer Gloria Gaynor, the band Kiss and actor Sylvester Stallone are being honored this year.
While CBS has aired the event in the past, nothing has been announced yet about television plans for the special.

The Washington Post claims that Tom turned down the honor due to “scheduling conflicts.” The outlet says that several current and former Kennedy Center employees confirmed the news, though the actor’s rep has not commented.
Tom is receiving a different honor this year… an honorary Oscar. He’ll be honored at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ Governors Awards on November 16.
