‘Ahsoka’ Goes Retro For Season 2 Trailer at Star Wars Celebration

Though during the Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration, Dave Filoni, chief creative officer of Lucasfilm, kept a tight lip on what to expect from Ahsoka Season 2, which begins filming in a week, but it would turn out that he was just going to let a teaser at the end of the panel do the talking. The trailer featured a recap of Season 1 of the Rosario Dawson-led series as well as what to expect for Season 2. The teaser was done in an 80s-inspired style made entirely of concept art ahead of production. It was inspired by retro advertisements for the sequel to A New Hope, long before they’d filmed anything for Empire Strikes Back. The concept art-filled trailer featured a voiceover teasing the conflict between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant.

What exactly will be happening with the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant, you ask? The concept art teased fleet battles between the two powers. It also included Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) with the other New Republic pilots getting ready to fight against the Empire. There were also teases of Ahsoka and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) in another galaxy that we saw them in at the end of Season 1. The footage also teed up a connection with the occult, everyone from Season 1 we know and love (Zeb too), as well as a confrontation between Ahsoka and Baylan Skoll. Fans already got their first look during the panel at Rory McCann as Baylan Skoll, officially taking over for Ray Stevenson after his passing in 2023.

Everyone Is Back, and Yes, That Includes Anakin Skywalker

Fans were first introduced to Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano as a duo in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Now, we’ve gotten the chance to see the duo in live action with Hayden Christensen‘s appearance in the first season of Ahsoka. At the panel today for Star Wars Celebration, Christensen officially confirmed he would be back as Anakin Skywalker for the sophomore season of the Disney+ series. The news comes during the same year as the 20th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, the final film in the prequels. The film features Christensen as Anakin transforming into the Star Wars antagonist Darth Vader as he slips slowly into madness on the Dark Side with the Sith.

You can watch the first season of Ahsoka now on Disney+. Stay with Collider for the latest updates from Star Wars Celebration.
