American Eagle is breaking its silence on the controversial new jeans ad starring Sydney Sweeney.
Last week, the denim brand launched their Fall 2025 campaign, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,” however, in some ads, “Jeans” has been crossed out and replaced with “Genes.”
Many accused American Eagle of promoting “eugenics” and “Nazi propaganda,” since Sydney, 27, is white, blonde, and blue-eyed. People also took issue with the campaign seemingly sexualizing the Euphoria actress and in one commercial, she says, “Eyes up here.”
In a new statement, American Eagle responded to the backlash and defended the new campaign.
