Sam shared a video from singing on the New York City subway less than a year after winning Idol.

“This was me less than a year after winning American idol. Back where I started .. I was embarrassed to be doing this, but I knew that I had to,” Sam wrote. “I never thought or expected to be back in this situation after becoming the 2020 American idol winner, but here I was not even a year later. Some day I’ll be able to share my story with the world and all of the people who voted for me to win . I can’t wait for that day to come. After being used, blackballed and tossed to the side like trash I never gave up! My voice and God has opened doors for me that no man can close. I ended up back where I started but I have so much more to do here on this earth. This isn’t the end.”
