Anthony Boyle: “It’s such an amazing time for Ireland on a global stage”

Anthony Boyle walked the red carpet in Dublin ahead of the premiere of House of Guinness on Netflix.

He plays Arthur Guinness…but not the one we know. He plays the third Arthur in the Guinness dynasty.

When VIP Magazine caught up with him on the red carpet, he described his character, telling us: “Arthur’s got a lot of energy, and yeah, he’s a bit of a punk.”

He jokes that Kneecap would be a brilliant soundtrack for Arthur, although the band’s music does feature in the show.

Of course, the show is created by the man behind Peaky Blinders so the pressure is on to impress fans of the show.

“Hopefully we can join that Pantheon of great shows. It would be brilliant. I think the show is good,” Anthony says before cheekily adding: “I would watch it if I wasn’t in it!”

The show is focused on the Guinness family in the 1800s when they are one of the richest families in Ireland. Of course, Guinness is so intertwined with Irish culture that this show had to showcase Ireland and Irish talent from the 21st century. The cast is almost entirely Irish.

And it’s safe to say that less than a decade ago that would have been completely unheard of. Anthony isn’t just leading House of Guinness’ almost fully Irish cast, last year he led Disney+’s highly celebrated Say Nothing.

“I’m so proud. It’s such an amazing time for Ireland on a global stage. And to be a part of that is very special. Say Nothing is such a great show. I’m so proud to be a part of House of Guinness as well,” he enthused.

House of Guinness arrives on Netflix on September 25th
