BBC Swiftly Finds Its Replacement For Scott Mills On ‘Race Across The World’ Spin-Off

The BBC has acted swiftly to find its replacement for Scott Mills on the upcoming Race Across the World spin-off, which kicks off tonight.

Deadline revealed yesterday that the BBC was pushing on with the Detour companion vodcast to the hit entertainment show despite the fact its presenter, Mills, had been sacked by the BBC just days before it was due to launch. The BBC has been plunged into scandal once again this week after it was revealed that Mills was questioned for serious sexual offense allegations last decade. The case was closed due to lack of evidence.

Mills will be replaced on Race Across the World: The Detour by TV presenter and DJ Tyler West, who competed in last year’s third season of Celebrity Race Across the World with his partner Molly Rainford.

West will tonight welcome guests including Kola Bokinni and Rainford. Season 4 winner Alfie Watts will share top travel tips and hacks with guests.

The BBC has acted quickly to keep the vodcast on the road.

The Mills scandal has deepened these past 24 hours after the BBC confirmed it was aware that he was the subject of a police investigation in 2017. The corporation said new information had come to light in recent weeks. Mills issued his first statement yesterday, confirming he was investigated by police in 2017.

Mills won Celebrity Race Across the World in 2024 with his husband Sam Vaughan. Race Across The World: The Detour is a companion vodcast, similar to The Traitors: Uncloaked.

Featuring duos racing across an area of the world on a shoestring budget using any means of transportation other than air travel, Race Across the World and its celebrity companion is one of the BBC’s most popular entertainment shows. The Detour vodcast was announced on a BBC vodcast slate on March 12.
