Overlord fans are patient. After it was announced that the anime series would extend to a feature film that would cover the “Paladin of the Holy Kingdom” arc, they had to wait three years to finally check out the movie in the theaters. Now, they had to wait a little more to check it out in the comfort of their own homes, but the wait is finally over. Crunchyroll announced recently that Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom is finally available to stream on the platform.
Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom brings the story to a close twelve years after Momonga started to play his favorite MMORPG game. In the brink of ruin, The Sacred Kingdom is being protected by a great wall that keeps demi-humans out. Led by Jaldabaoth, a massive army of demi-humans starts to move towards the wall to tear it down. To Momonga’s despair, he can’t log out this time and seems to be trapped in the game world forever. So, his only course of action is taking the Demon Emperor down.
If there is one thing that Overlord fans made clear is that Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom was worth the wait. On Rotten Tomatoes, the anime movie currently has a near-perfect 94% score from audiences.
