‘Elsbeth’ Gets a Visit From Billy Magnussen in New ‘Elsbeth’ Season 2 Sneak Peek

Elsbeth just left its millions of fans with their jaws dropped in Season 2, Episode 18, “I Know What You Did Thirty-Three Summers Ago.” With the titular Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) dedicating herself to bringing down Judge Milton Crawford (Michael Emerson), little did anyone expect the task to be executed quite so brutally. As the episode cuts to credits, attention immediately turns to what lies in store next for Elsbeth, with the second season almost coming to an end. That next installment is Episode 19, “I’ve Got a Little List,” which promises more breathless drama, twists, turns, and even the arrival of an exciting new guest star.

As can be seen in an official sneak peek available to watch below, Season 2, Episode 19, “I’ve Got a Little List,” will feature the talented Billy Magnussen as Rod, a playboy thrill-seeker who has a dangerous item on his bucket list worth Elsbeth’s investigation. Alongside the recently cancelled The Franchise, Magnussen is also known for his work on the likes of Into the Woods, Bridge of Spies, Get Shorty, and more. An alum of the Disney live-action remake of Aladdin in 2019, Magnussen will be turning his attention to another of its kind, appearing in Dean Fleischer Camp’s live-action Lilo & Stitch film, scheduled for release next month. But first, fans of Magnussen can see him join the likes of Nathan Lane (The Birdcage), Laurie Metcalf (Scream 2), and Jane Krakowski (30 Rock) in guest-starring in Elsbeth Season 2, with the synopsis for his episode reading:

“While investigating what appears to be a random shooting, Elsbeth meets Rod (Billy Magnussen), an entitled playboy working through his bucket list of thrills, which may include murder. In the end, Elsbeth’s efforts to catch the killer land her in serious legal trouble.”

‘Elsbeth’s Latest Episode Kicked the Season Into a Final Sprint

Elsbeth Season 2 has, admittedly, had a quiet couple of weeks, with the previous run of episodes full of entertainment but giving little in the way of Earth-shattering shocks. That all comes to an end in the most recent episode, with Elsbeth’s investigative work entering overdrive as she tries to prove Judge Crawford is a murderer before it’s too late and he ascends to becoming a federal judge. Speaking of the episode, which currently boasts a season’s second-best 8.5/10 on IMDb, Collider’s Arezou Amin said in her review, “It’s not often that a TV show makes me gasp out loud while watching, and Elsbeth managed that twice this week.” She then went on to confess that “the direction I thought the finale was going is now completely out the window, so I guess it’s time to start speculating again!” What could be waiting in said finale? Only time will tell.

Elsbeth airs on Thursdays on CBS, with streaming available the following day on Paramount+. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on your favorite shows.
