“Every Year After” Flopped And Let Me Explain Why!
As someone who loves Carley Fortune books, I was not too thrilled about Every Year After…
First off, while this book might be her most popular, it was not my favorite to begin with. I found Percy and Sam to be both unbearable to listen to. Percy spent years torturing herself over what she did to Sam, and Sam waited years for Percy to return to Barry’s Bay despite him being the one who pushed her away. It was just infuriating, and I kept screaming for them to just communicate with each other.
Now, don’t get me wrong, it was not a bad book, but I just did not love the characters, and I didn’t feel the need to reread it to relive the magic as I do with other books. Honestly, it was kinda forgettable to me. Especially after reading all of Carley Fortune’s other books. She really has a talent for capturing the summer, lake house, and romance vibes that just make you want to give up life for a lake house. Regardless, I watched the show (because obviously curiosity will always get the better of me), and I have thoughts.
