On Monday morning (October 6), the 56-year-old actress appeared on Today where she chatted with Craig Melvin about her new movie Kiss of the Spider Woman.

“There you go! Look at this guy!” Jennifer said.

Craig then clarified his reasoning for mentioning Ben, 53, while discussing the movie, noting, “But then I read that your ex is an executive producer on the film.”

Jennifer laughed off the moment before giving Ben his props.

“If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made,” Jennifer said. “And I will always give him that credit.”

As for her post-divorce attitude, Jennifer added, “And yeah, things happen, you have to keep going.”

Also during the interview, Jennifer shared how the movie has helped her navigate her own personal turmoil.

“It’s funny, the movie is about escapism. It’s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives,” Jennifer explained. “Doing this project was such a dream come true for me that it really got me through to kind of survive a moment that was difficult in my personal life as well.”

As for what’s next in her life, Jennifer said, “After [filming] I took some time off and now we’re back. I’m really excited for everybody to see this film. It’s a beautiful film about love.”

“And it sounds like it might have helped saved you,” Craig noted.

“It did, it did!” Jennifer agreed.

Kiss of the Spider Woman hits theaters on Friday, October 10. Watch the trailer here!
