Malin Akerman Shares How Melania Trump Inspired 'The Hunting Wives' Character

Malin Akerman is dishing on getting into character for her new show The Hunting Wives.

The hot new Netflix series follows “Sophie (Brittany Snow) and her family’s move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo Banks’ (Akerman) irresistible charms – and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction, and murder.”

In a new interview, Malin, 47, shared how the show’s team referenced Melania Trump when she was developing her take on the character.

Keep reading to find out more…“That was the only reference, really,” Malin told Vulture. “Other than that, it’s just high society. I’ve mingled with aristocrats and high-society people and seen the games that go into it. For lack of a better word, I wouldn’t say ‘authenticity’ is how those people lead.”

Similar to the 55-year-old First Lady, Malin shared how her character “came into a marriage to this rich man as one woman,” only to have to live up to new expectations as her husband Jed Banks (Dermot Mulroney) ran for governor of Texas.

Find out how the ending of The Hunting Wives show differs from the book’s ending.
