Spider-Man fans, heads up. If you love Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy or the animated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse then you have few days left before these web-slinger stories leave Netflix. The Tobey Maguire-starring trilogy, directed by horror icon Raimi, was the kick-start of the superhero genre as we know it today.
The original Spider-Man trilogy sort of provides a blueprint of Peter Parker’s origin story on the big screen. Thanks to the success of these movies, fans around the world have a solid trilogy to go back to that also stars Willem Dafoe, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, and more. Furthermore, hints of what happened to the OG Peter after the movies ended can be found in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which brought back both Maguire and his successor, Andrew Garfield, to the MCU.
In contrast, Across the Spider-Verse tells us the story of Miles Morales, in an animated format, where comic book panels come alive on the big screen. The Oscar-nominated movie takes us across the multiverse as we grow and learn with Miles. The movie, directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, is state-of-the-art when it comes to animation and has been the best in the genre. Shameik Moore voices the fan-favorite web-slinger. The 95% Rotten Tomatoes movie is produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and has brought back many iconic characters and Spider-Men from across the lore and medium.
What Do We Know About Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man 4’?
Not much is known about MCU’s Spider-Man 4, nonetheless, the film will begin production this summer in England. Along with Tom Holland’s return, the top line talents include Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton, who has been tapped to helm the next installment. Given the movie will come two months after Avengers: Doomsday, which sees the return of Robert Downey Jr., and will be set in the aftermath of Spider-Man: No Way Home, it’s anyone’s guess what the movie will be about.
Furthermore, Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has been added to the cast in an undisclosed role. Also, fans suspect Simu Liu can be in the movie given his history with director Cretton as well as the history of Shang-Chi and Spider-Man’s collaboration in the comics.
Spider-Man trilogy and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse leave Netflix on May 1. Check them out before they leave the platform. Stay tuned to Collider for more such updates.
