Miley Cyrus Reveals She Wasn't Allowed to Sing Hannah Montana Songs Until This Happened

Miley Cyrus arrives at JFK airport with her team on Saturday (June 7) in New York City.

The 32-year-old singer, who just dropped her new album Something Beautiful, was also joined by boyfriend Maxx Morando, as they arrived to catch a flight out of the city.

Miley has spent the past week or so in NYC to promote her album, and the accompanying Something Beautiful music film premiered at 2025 Tribeca Film Festival on Friday (June 6).

During a new interview to promote the new album, Miley revealed that she wasn’t able to perform Hannah Montana songs for the longest time, until more recently.

“After I left Disney, I wasn’t allowed to perform any of the Hannah Montana music,” she spilled on the Every Single Album podcast. “It’s not like I wanted to. I mean, performing ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ between ‘We Can’t Stop’ and ‘Wrecking Ball’ wouldn’t have really made sense. But it was still sad knowing those songs have my voice, my face, and I wasn’t allowed to sing them.”

So, what changed?

“But after being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool,” Miley revealed. She was inducted last August, tearing up during her acceptance speech.

Also during that interview, Miley shared that she lied to an accountant to cover up drug spending.
