‘Outlander’ & ‘The Tourist’ Actor Diarmaid Murtagh Will Play Villainous Space Pirate In DC’s ‘Supergirl’

EXCLUSIVE: Irish actor Diarmaid Murtagh, known for roles in series Outlander, The Tourist and Vikings, will next be seen on screen this summer as one of the villains in DC’s Supergirl.

Murtagh will play Drom Baxton, second in command of The Brigands, which is led by Krem Of The Yellow Hills, the lead villain played by Matthias Schoenaerts. The ruthless space pirates and human traffickers are the main antagonists in the film.

Supergirl, which releases in June, charts the origin story of Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) before she finally makes her way to Earth. Craig Gillespie directs with previously announced cast including Eve Ridley, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, David Krumholtz and Jason Momoa.

The film is based on the Tom King’s 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which Bilquis Evely illustrated, and Ana Nogueira adapted the comic book for the big screen. In the comic, Supergirl and young alien girl Knolle travel across the galaxy to hunt Krem of the Yellow Hill after he kills Knolle’s father in cold blood. It has been billed among fans as being akin to the John Wayne classic, True Grit.

Murtagh plays series regular William Buck Mackenzie in Starz hit Outlander, Donal McDonnell in HBO Max drama The Tourist and Leif in Vikings. In post is movie action-thriller The Butler with Jean Reno.

He is repped by Independent Talent Group.
