Pedro Pascal in Talks for Todd Haynes Gay Romance After Joaquin Phoenix Dropped Out

Pedro Pascal might be taking on a new role!

The 50-year-old The Last of Us star is said to be “circling” Todd Haynes’ upcoming gay romance, De Noche.

The director is known for films like May December, Far From Heaven and Carol.

De Noche was shut down about a year ago, but the project is now being revisited according to Deadline‘s report.

It will reportedly begin production in 2026 in Guadalajara, Mexico, pending Pedro‘s busy schedule.

Joaquin Phoenix previously left the production last minute in 2024. It’s still unclear why he left the film.

“I think if I do [speak about the reasoning], I’d just be sharing my opinion from my perspective, and the other creatives aren’t here to say their piece, and it just doesn’t feel like that would be right,” he said, via People, after the news broke.
