Veteran producer Miky Lee of CJ Group is set to deliver the 2025 commencement address for the USC School of Cinematic Art, the university announced today.

Lee will give her speech at the graduation ceremony held at the Shrine Auditorium on Friday, May 16. She joins a list of luminaries who have fulfilled this duty at USC that includes Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, Matt Reeves, Jon M. Chu, Paul Feig, Jim Gianopulos, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Donna Langley, Barry Meyer, Sumner Redstone, Jay Roach, Stacey Sher and Laura Ziskin.

Also set to speak is SCA alumnus and Wicked director Jon M. Chu, who will talk at the main, university-wide commencement ceremony taking place at the Los Angeles Memorial Colosseum at 7:00 p.m. on May 15, as previously announced.

Commenting on Lee’s selection as speaker, the School of Cinematic Arts’ Dean Elizabeth M. Daley said, “Miky Lee is a champion of artists and storytellers and a trailblazer in the evolution of multinational film collaborations. She loves international cinema and brings that appreciation to every project she produces. Her career stands as a global model of success in the creative industries, and her dedication to creating cultural connection is an inspiration for us all. We are so pleased to welcome her to USC.”

Currently serving as Vice Chairwoman of South Korean conglomerate CJ Group, Lee led CJ’s investment in DreamWorks SKG in 1995 and has driven CJ’s entertainment and media ventures through its subsidiary, CJ ENM. As an executive producer, her credits include the history-making Parasite, the first foreign-language film to win Best Picture at the 92nd Academy Awards, as well as such critically lauded, award-winning titles as Decision to Leave, Broker, and Past Lives.

Outside of film, Lee has been a driving force behind K-pop’s global rise, spearheading the creation and expansion of the world’s largest K-culture and music festival, KCON, and founding K-pop awards show the MAMA Awards. Recognized with Korea’s highest cultural distinction, the Geumgwan Order of Cultural Merit, in 2023, and receiving the 2024 Global Citizen Award from the Atlantic Council for her impact on the international entertainment landscape, Lee has also over the years been recognized with the Pillar Award from the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the International Emmy Directorate Award from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and the Abu Dhabi Festival Award from the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation. She sits on the board of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, as well as the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Hammer Museum, Berklee College of Music, and Otis College of Art and Design.
