Scott Speedman has landed a brand new role leading an ABC pilot…and we now know if he’ll be able to return for Grey’s Anatomy, too!

The 49-year-old actor will star as the title character in RJ Decker, a drama pilot based on the 1987 novel “Double Whammy” by Carl Hiaasen.

So, will he be able to return as Nick Marsh in Grey’s Anatomy’s upcoming season? If you don’t know, Scott has portrayed the role since season 18.

Deadline shares that his role on the new ABC pilot won’t conflict and it’s expected that he’ll be able to film Grey’s and RJ Decker, should the pilot get picked up by ABC! He would likely film the pilot first, and then move on to filming Grey’s.

The site reports: “RJ Decker centers on the eponymous RJ Decker (Speedman), a disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con who starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of Carl Hiaasen’s South Florida, tackling cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife, and a shadowy new benefactor, a woman from his past who could be his greatest ally … or his one-way ticket back to prison.”
