Simone Biles is ripping into Riley Gaines over her anti-trans comments about a transgender softball player.
If you didn’t know, Riley, 25, is a conservative activist and former swimmer known for campaigning against the participation of trans women in women’s sports ever since she came in fifth place in a race where a trans swimmer out-swam her.
On Friday (June 6), Riley commented on a post on X from Minnesota State High School League, which celebrated its first softball state championship win.
“Comments off lol. To be expected when your star player is a boy,” Riley wrote, referring to Marissa Rothenberger, a transgender athlete who is a pitcher for the team, according to Fox News.
Keep reading to find out more…Later in the day, Simone, 28, responded to Riley‘s comments, calling her a “straight up sore loser.”
“You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race,” Simone wrote X. “Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!”
In a separate post, the gymnast, who has 11 Olympic medals, wrote, “bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.”
Riley then hit back at Simone, tweeting, “This is actually so disappointing. It’s not my job or the job of any woman to figure out how to include men in our spaces. You can uplift men stealing championships in women’s sports with YOUR platform. Men don’t belong in women’s sports and I say that with my full chest.”
She then followed up with, “And the subtle hint at ‘body-shaming’ ???? Plzzzz I’m 5’5″
