Vince Gill Releases New Song with Lainey Wilson: ‘Didn’t Know If She’d Be Up For That’ – Closer Weekly | Closer Weekly

Vince Gill and Lainey Wilson made some country music magic together.

On Friday, February 13, the legendary musician, 68, released his fourth EP as part of his 50 Years From Home series, and the title track “Down At The Borderline” featured Wilson, 33.

In the song — written by Gill and songwriter Liz Rose — the Country Music Hall of Famer and the “Heart like a Truck” hitmaker sings about Thibodaux, Louisiana.

“We dance to the Cajun fiddles / Have ourselves a real good time / There’s a chance we’ll drink just a little / Down at the borderline, way down at the borderline,” the pair sing in the chorus.

“Once I set it in Thibodaux I asked Lainey to come sing on it,” Gill revealed per American Songwriter. “She graciously said yes, and she killed it! I didn’t know if she’d be up for that; it’s hard to get somebody when they’re knocking it out of the park like she is, but she did, and I love the sound of our voices together.”

Meanwhile, Wilson gushed that “releasing a song with Vince Gill is truly a dream come true,” according to American Songwriter.

“I’ve had the chance to get to know him over the past few years and share the stage together, so being able to finally make music together means the world to me,” she shared.

Wilson also gave the song a shoutout on her Instagram Story Friday posting, “Singing this song with @vincegillofficial was somethin [sic] special. Go give it a listen!”
