Welcome To Campobasso? Mark Consuelos & Kelly Ripa Score ESPN Soccer Doc After Buying Italian Team

The success of Wrexham AFC, the team bought by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and the FX docuseries that came with it has spurred many other American media figures to invest in international soccer teams.

Tom Brady bought a stake in Birmingham FC, NBA stars Russell Westbrook, T.J. McConnell and Larry Nance Jr. partnered with golfers Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas to invest in Leeds United and Michael B. Jordan bought a stake in AFC Bournemouth.

Then, there’s daytime television stars Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa, who not only bought Italian team Campobasso FC in 2022, but they’re following the Reynolds and McElhenney path to turning their investment into a television docuseries.

The Live with Kelly and Mark duo are fronting Running with the Wolves, a four-part series for ESPN that will follow their entry into the high-stakes world of Italian soccer.

The series, which premieres on July 29, will follow Campobasso FC as they enter the 2025 campaign.

The team currently plays in Series C, the third tier of Italian soccer, after a few years of ownership and soccer challenges.

The series will stream on ESPN+ after episodes air on the linear network and will also be available on Hulu and Disney+ for bundle subscribers.

Running with the Wolves is a soccer story rooted in heart, determination, and never giving up,” said Consuelos and Ripa. “Campobasso FC represents the underdog that lives in all of us. Building the Campobasso FC project from the ground-up has been one of the wildest and most rewarding adventures we’ve ever taken on, and we can’t wait for new and longtime fans to join us for this ride. We are just getting started.”
