Zak Starkey Re-Hired by the Who: ‘Communication Issues Have Been Aired Happily,’ Pete Townshend Posts
In a surprise move, just days after the Who announced that it had parted ways with Zak Starkey — Ringo Starr’s son and the band’s drummer for nearly 30 years — the group’s Pete Townshend announced that he has been un-fired.
“News flash! Who back Zak!,” it reads. “Zak is not being asked to step down from The Who. There have been some communication issues, personal and private on all sides that needed to be dealt with, and these have been aired happily.
“Please check thewho.com for the full statement.”
However, an hour after Townshend posted, there was still no statement on the band’s website; presumably it is still forthcoming.
More to come.
