Catelynn Lowell’s Kids: All About Her Daughters Novalee, Vaeda and Rya — and Where She Stands with Her Oldest Carly

Catelynn Lowell has been open about her motherhood journey with her husband, Tyler Baltierra.

The Teen Mom star married her middle school sweetheart in August 2015, six years after the two welcomed their first child together, Carly, on May 18, 2009.

Carly’s birth was featured on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, but soon after, the couple placed their daughter for adoption. Lowell and Baltierra went on to welcome three more children together: Novalee in January 2015, Vaeda in February 2019 and Rya in August 2021.

The couple have had ups and downs with their open adoption with Carly over the years as they’ve continued to remain in her life. In January 2016, Carly was able to meet then-1-year-old Novalee. Seven years later, in August 2023, the couple opened up to PEOPLE about bonding with Carly about “life stuff” now that she was a teenager.

At the end of the day, however, it’s the girls’ relationship that makes Lowell most proud.

“Seeing them all together is the best. Watching them interact is amazing,” she told PEOPLE. “Those are the moments where we feel like, you could just melt into this forever. It’s so amazing to see them all together.”

However, in recent years, Baltierra and Lowell have been candid about missed visits, being blocked by Carly’s parents and experiencing “adoption PTSD.” As of April 2025, the couple have said that they have not had a visit with Carly in two years.

Novalee Reign Baltierra, 10

Baltierra and Lowell welcomed their second child together, daughter Novalee Reign, on Jan. 1, 2015.

Lowell and Baltierra have given fans a glimpse into their daughter’s life as she’s grown older on social media, including Novalee’s first day of second grade and her birthday celebrations.

One of Novalee’s passions is cheerleading, and Lowell is proud to show off her daughter’s skills on Instagram. She has shared clips of Novalee and her team during competitions, writing in an April 2024 Instagram post, “Nova and her team did AMAZING this season I am so proud of everyone of them ladies!!!!”

Lowell and Novalee also have something fun in common – their love of animals. In an October 2023 Instagram post, Novalee posed for a photo with a lizard on her shoulder. “This kid 😍🦎 she loves all animals like her momma,” Lowell wrote in the caption.

Ahead of her 10th birthday in January 2025, Lowell shared an emotional post on Instagram calling her daughter “beyond kind and thoughtful.”

“Tomorrow we wake up and have a 10 year old 😭 people are not joking when they say time flys when it comes to your kids!” Lowell wrote in the caption. “We are blessed to have Nova as our daughter!”

Vaeda Luma Baltierra, 6

Baltierra and Lowell welcomed their third child together, daughter Vaeda, on Feb. 21, 2019.

The couple announced that they were expecting in September 2018, just six months after sharing they suffered a miscarriage in an episode ofTeen Mom OG.

After Vaeda was born, Lowell got a tattoo in her honor, revealing the ink in May 2019. The artwork featured her daughter’s name alongside an outline of her footprint, which was filled in with a rainbow.

“We made it a rainbow since she’s our rainbow baby,” Lowell wrote in the caption of the post. “It’s almost completely healed!”

Baltierra and Lowell often reflect on their daughters’ milestone moments on Instagram, including reminiscing about the passage of time when Vaeda was about to turn 5 in February 2024.

“This dad is not okay lol 😭 they just keep growing up on me & as beautiful as it is to witness … it’s also heartbreaking at the same time,” Baltierra wrote in the caption. “I love my girls more than anything & thank the universe every day for allowing me to be their father!”

For her 6th birthday in February 2025, Lowell celebrated Vaeda’s birthday with a sweet post on Instagram, calling her daughter “so sweet, spunky, funny and fierce.”

“This girl is going to run things when she’s older!” Lowell added. “No one will ever be able to walk over her and she knows exactly what she wants!! Vaeda you have the best personality and such a loving soul!!! You make us laugh on the daily! Happy birthday pretty girl!!!”

Rya Rose Baltierra, 3

Baltierra and Lowell welcomed their fourth child together, daughter Rya, on Aug. 28, 2021.

A year before she became pregnant with Rya, Lowell opened up to PEOPLE about her desire to expand her family again.

“My baby fever is insane!” she said in February 2020 before adding, “We’re not done yet. We just love being parents too much.”

The couple announced that they were expecting another baby girl in February 2021. “While we wanted a boy since this is our last, as long as she’s healthy … that’s really all that matters,” Lowell told Celebuzz. “This is our last and final but we know one day we will have a grandson and adore him!”

After revealing her daughter’s name in September 2021, Lowell gave PEOPLE the background to all her children’s monikers the following month.

“Novalee, her name came from a movie. And Vaeda’s name is from a movie as well, My Girl,” she explained. “And then one time we were watching the new Disney movie with our girls, Raya and the Last Dragon, and I was telling Tyler, ‘Wow, isn’t that a really pretty name? Like Raya is a super pretty name.’ “

That same month, Lowell shared that her daughters were loving being big sisters, and Carly was “super excited” though she hadn’t met her yet.

“All the girls are excited. Carly was definitely excited as well,” Lowell said. “I sent pictures to Carly’s mom of Rya and of the three girls together … they absolutely adore her, too.”

Over the years, Lowell has marked her youngest child’s birthday on Instagram. Before Rya turned 1 in August 2022, Lowell wrote how emotional she was over Rya being their “last” baby. A year later, Rya had a “two sweet” birthday and, when she turned 3, she celebrated with a chocolate cupcake.

“Rya Rose 🌹 today you are three!!!” Lowell wrote on Instagram at the time. “You have brought our family so much love and laughter! We adore you baby girl!! Happy Birthday.”
